Lagavulin has become a Special Releases stalwart – and for good reason. The classic Islay distillery is beloved by peat fans (and everyone’s favourite Parks director, Ron Swanson). This year’s 12 year old candidate brings together the characteristic island smoke with the sweetness of American hogsheads, all wrapped up in a natural cask strength bottling. It’s meaty and robust – Ron would certainly approve.

Nose:

Meaty and mezcal-like with cola ham and a little putty.

Palate:

Classic smoky embers and burnt ends. Full flavoured with balancing sweetness, great stuff.

Finish:

Long, slightly drier but still balanced with plenty of ash and smoke.
